ALEXANDRA
The Birth of a Dream
Alexandra's story is deeply moving. It all began with Maria Jose Guinot, a visionary woman, passionate about art and knowledge of cultures from around the world. Her creativity and resilience defied the limits imposed at the time in Spain. The loss of her newborn daughter, whom she had decided to name Alexandra, marked a turning point in her life. That pain, far from breaking her, became the engine of a powerful and creative impulse. This marked the birth of a project that today, full of both sense and beauty, still inspires the world.
Maria Jose launched her first furniture and décor shop in the 1980s, and quickly established herself as a leading light in the world of interior design. Her projects for palaces, embassies, villas and the residences of influential figures around the world brought Mediterranean elegance to the most exclusive homes on the planet. Later she began to import furniture, subsequently designing and producing it, generating the beginnings of what ALEXANDRA is today.
In 1994, together with her sons Johnny and Jacobo, who assisted her in management and design respectively, she decided to launch Coleccion Alexandra, a tribute to her daughter and a family legacy that has transcended borders.
Her goal was to create a brand with values that reflected a philosophy based on colour, volume, variety, personalisation... In short, an unprecedented collection of exclusive furniture to suit any taste, a fusion of East and West under the radiance of the Mediterranean, resulting in collections full of balance and harmony.
This was possible largely thanks to the thousands and thousands of kilometres she travelled all over the world, gathering wonderful experiences with which she shaped her personality and an exquisite taste for decoration.

The Birth of a Dream

Colección Alexandra, the expression of a brave and visionary soul
María J. Guinot, interior and furniture designer, is the founder of Coleccion Alexandra.. A pioneer in her beginnings, in 1975 she started her career as an interior designer after studying Fine Arts, making her way in a world dominated by men, where her passion, creativity and ingenuity would soon bring her worldwide recognition. Her projects champion elegance and good taste, integrating textures, shapes, volumes and above all, the use of colour as her personal signature.

Mediterranean heritage and artisan soul: The essence of Valencian design
Maria Jose Guinot began to design and manufacture her first models, in a classic but highly sophisticated style, taking advantage of the know-how of the master craftsmen of the Valencian community. Alexandra is located in a privileged area, a region with a long tradition in the furniture sector that has always stood out for the quality and durability of its pieces. It is the cradle of craftsmen who have worked tirelessly to position Valencian furniture, making it an international benchmark.

When design creates style: The interior designer's view beyond furniture
One of the distinguishing features of the firm since its origins is its philosophy, which is based on the premise of developing products from the perspective of the interior designer and not the traditional furniture manufacturer. That is why its offer is not only limited to furniture design but has also created a ‘lifestyle’ of its own that includes everything from decorative accessories and textiles to lighting.
Luxury without borders in memorable settings: Projects with the Coleccion Alexandra signature
Among the most emblematic milestones of this first stage are the interior design and furnishing of the VIP lounges at Heathrow Airport in London, the 22,000 m2 Sheik Alqasimi Palace in Sharjah in the United Arab Emirates, and hotels such as the Hilton in Budapest and the Ritz Carlton in Rabat.

A long history and international presence
The company has grown progressively and this has allowed it to exhibit its collections at national and international trade fairs. It currently has large, modern facilities covering 7,000 m2, of which 1,000 m2 are dedicated to showrooms, and with an export activity that has exceeded 85% of its production.
From fire to rebirth: A story of courage and reconstruction
There are many dates in the history of this dream factory. Perhaps the most important one is 11th November 2010. A devastating fire threatened to put an end to the illusion and the work of many years, turning into ashes, pain and despair the company that had been built up with so much effort. This was not the case. Coleccion Alexandra arose like a phoenix from its own ashes, stronger than ever, rebuilding what the fire had ravaged.
